Discography is the survey & list of sound recordings.
This portmanteau word stems from:
a gramophone record, often known as the "disc", a dominant commercial medium of audio recording for virtually all of the 20th century
a -graph suffix signifying something written (see likewise autobiography, graphology and so on).
The list of tons recordings which the musician or singer is on may be known as their "discography". In addition, discographies can be compiled according to the particular musical genre or record label, etc.
A term "discography" was popularized in the 1930s by collectors of jazz records. Jazz fans did locate & self published discographies just about while jazz records were manufactured & what musicians were on a records, when record corporations did non usually include that trading tools on/with the records at that instance.
